The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard is a set of security standards developed by major credit card providers: Visa, Discover Financial Services, MasterCard, JCB International, and American Express. It is managed by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC). It addresses 12 key security domains and details specific requirements for all payment card providers and service providers that store, process, and transmit cardholder data.
